Today I hosted our first Giving Rocket call. Giving Rocket is a membership community of pastors and leaders that focus on increasing operational giving.  Today I interviewed Pastor John Siebeling of The Life Church Of Memphis.  Pastor John is probably one the best leaders I personally know.  I’m not blowing smoke… This guy just understands people, strategy, pastoring, preaching, and so many other things.  Today he laid out their funding strategy for their church.  It’s BRILLIANT!

1. Preach On Money Consistently

He said, “Churches say they want to be relevant.  You can’t be relevant unless you are talking about money.”  They constantly talk about money, but they do it in a life giving way.

2. Ask For Over & Above Giving

They have an annual funding strategy where they ask their people to stretch.  He made mention that they create 3-4 Objectives and ask their people to fund them over and above the tithe!  This is EVERY YEAR and they have been going strong for 14 years.  So not only are they strong on the tithe, they preach over and above giving.  LOVE IT!

3. Provide Practical Financial Health For People

Life Church helps people get into classes where they gain practical financial help.  They provide a lot of help for people needing practical advice.

I don’t care if your church is 50 or 5,000 people strong, you can do these three things!  Start funding your vision now!
